Amber Heard has announced that she plans to appeal the verdict in the defamation case between her and Johnny Depp.
The jury awarded $ 15 million in damages to Depp for defamation by his ex-wife in an article published in The Washington Post claiming he was a victim of domestic violence, but did not say it was Depp.
Hurd also received $ 2 million in damages because the jury agreed that in one case she was slandered by Johnny’s lawyer, but after the jury rendered its verdict, the actress said she intended to appeal the decision. Amber’s spokeswoman Alafer Hall announced plans for the appeal in a statement to The New York Times, although it was not immediately clear on what grounds she would base her appeal.
To get the case reopened, the actress would probably have to prove that there was a mistake in the trial or that there were problems with the reading of the law by the presiding judge. The appeal may also be based on new evidence or statements that appear after the first trial.
Hurd made it clear she was unhappy with the outcome of the trial in a statement issued after the verdict, saying she was disappointed and claiming that there was “a lot of evidence to support her claims”.

“I am broken that the hill of evidence was not enough to oppose the disproportionate power and influence of my ex-husband. I am even more disappointed with what this ruling means for other women. “It’s a setback … This rejects the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously …,” Hurd said in a statement issued shortly after the Virginia verdict was read.
Depp, meanwhile, said the new chapter had finally begun.
“False, very serious and punishable charges were brought against me which caused an endless avalanche of hatred, although no charges were ever brought against me ст Six years later, the jury brought my life back. “I’m really proud,” Depp wrote on his Instagram account.
